Sylvia's Black Eye Peas, Seasoned

Queen of soul food. They're real good. Growing up in South Carolina, we ate lots of beans and peas. For New Year's we always ate hoppin' John made with black eye peas and rice for good luck. In fact, when I'm asked to describe soul food, my first response is black eye peas (followed by collard greens, fried chicken and barbecue). You can serve my Black Eye Peas as a side dish or like I do in a cold salad with chopped summer vegetables and dressing.
