New Foodtown in the Bronx
Foodtown, Inc. is very excited to announce a brand new store that has opened in the Bronx on May 6th. The Foodtown is located at 4332 White Plains Road in the Bronx, New York. The store was previously a Met Food store that has been converted to a Foodtown by owner and operator, Bernabe Carbera. Foodtown of White Plains Road is Foodtown’s seventh location in the Bronx.

Foodtown Board Elects New Chairman
Foodtown, Inc. is pleased to announce that the Foodtown Board of Directors has elected David Maniaci as the new Chairman and CEO. David is succeeding Gerard Norkus, who has recently announced his retirement.
The Maniaci family has been a member of the Foodtown Co-op for over 50 years. David joined the Co-op in 1985 and has served as a Board of Directors member for the last 20 years. David owns and operates two Foodtown locations, one is located in North Haledon, New Jersey and the other is located in Cedar Grove, New Jersey. Esmail Mobarak will be filling David’s previous position as Treasurer of the Board. Bill Donahoe, President and COO of Foodtown, states “I look forward to working closely with both David and Esmail on achieving our strategic initiatives. They are well respected and very committed to the well being and growth of our organization.”

Foodtown Celebrates Four Grand Openings

Foodtown, Inc. recently celebrated the Grand Openings for 4 locations in New York. The brand new Foodtown of Williamsburg is owned and operated by Nasri Abed. The store is located on 159 North 3rd Street in Brooklyn, New York. Foodtown of Bainbridge, celebrated its Grand Re-Opening after it burned down during a devastating fire in 2009. The Bainbridge store is located at 283 East 204th Street in the Bronx, New York and is owned and operated by Sydney, Noah, and Daniel Katz, who were committed to rebuilding the store.
Two Mauricio’s Marketplace locations also celebrated their Grand Openings on Friday. Mauricio’s Marketplace is a new licensee of the Foodtown Co-op in the metro area. One of the Mauricio’s Marketplace locations is 235 E. 106th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues. The location of the second Mauricio’s Marketplace is 2076 First Avenue between 107th and 108th Streets. Both are owned and operated by Mauricio Fernandez.
All four locations, Foodtown of Williamsburg, Foodtown of Bainbridge, Mauricio’s Marketplace of First Avenue and Mauricio’s Marketplace of E. 106th Street, held their Grand Opening Celebrations in April.
